Comparison

How to compare virtual data rooms.

Most comparison pages are scorecards written by the vendor who wins. This one is the checklist we would use if we were buying, plus an honest account of where Linkro fits and where it does not.

The checklist

Eight questions that decide the outcome.

QuestionWhy it mattersLinkro's answer
What is the pricing unit?Per page and per user pricing makes the final invoice unknowable.Capacity and term, in AUD, excluding GST.
Are users charged?Seat charges discourage inviting the reviewers who should be reading.Unlimited users on every plan.
What does preparation cost?Building the room should not be metered before anyone sees it.Free with 10 GB while the room stays private.
How is overage billed?Diligence spikes; unclear overage terms produce disputes.Charged for that month only, discounted as capacity rises.
Where is the data stored?Data sovereignty is raised by buyers' counsel, not by IT.Australian data centres.
Is the audit trail exportable? It is the evidence of your disclosure position after completion.Yes, full export.
Can bidders be isolated?Competing parties must never see each other's activity.Party-based permissions throughout.
Is AI traceable? An AI answer without a citation cannot be relied on in diligence.Citation-backed answers, marked coming soon.

Side by side

Compare Linkro with specific providers.

Each page covers where the alternative is strong, where Linkro differs, and how to decide. Details about other providers reflect publicly available information and should be confirmed with them directly.

Linkro vs Ansarada
The established Australian-founded option compared with an AI-native platform on pricing model, users, residency and review workflow.
Linkro vs Datasite
A global enterprise platform used on large transactions, compared for Australian deals where residency and cost predictability decide it.
Linkro vs Intralinks
One of the oldest platforms in the category, compared on pricing model, processing location and AI architecture.
Ansarada, Datasite and Intralinks alternatives
Written for the different question people ask when they already know they are leaving.
Where we are not the answer

Honest limits.

If you need a physical printing and secure courier service as part of the process, a full-service transaction provider will suit you better than we will.

If your requirement is a data room hosted in a specific overseas jurisdiction, our Australian hosting is the wrong fit by design.

And if you need the AI review capabilities live today rather than on the near roadmap, say so on the call. They are marked coming soon on this site because that is accurate, and we would rather lose the deal than misrepresent the timing.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

How should I compare virtual data room providers?
Convert every quote to the same unit before you look at features. Ask whether the price is per page, per user, per project or per capacity, what the overage terms are, and what happens if the deal runs longer than expected. Then check permissions, Q&A, watermarking, audit trail export, hosting location and support hours.
What questions should I ask on a data room demo?
Ask how a competing bidder is prevented from seeing another bidder's activity, how access is revoked at completion, whether the audit trail is exportable, where the data is physically stored, whether users are charged separately, and exactly how overage is billed.
Does the cheapest data room cost the least?
Not usually. Per-page and per-user pricing makes the sticker price low and the invoice unpredictable, and it changes behaviour: teams disclose less and invite fewer reviewers, which costs far more in deal risk than the software saved.
Is an AI data room actually different?
It depends on whether AI is part of the architecture or a feature bolted onto storage. The test is traceability: ask whether every AI answer cites the source document and page, and whether it can synthesise across the whole set rather than summarising one file at a time.
