Looking for an alternative to Ansarada?
People usually start looking for an alternative to Ansarada for one of three reasons: the pricing model is unpredictable, they cannot get a straight answer on where data is processed, or the review workflow has not changed in a decade. Here is how Linkro answers each, and when you should stay where you are.
Three reasons this search happens.
The four rows people are actually checking.
| Linkro | Ansarada | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Capacity and term, in AUD, excluding GST. | Quoted per project; historically page and capacity based. |
| Data residency | Australia, standard on every plan. | Not publicly stated in full; multiple regions referenced. |
| ISO/IEC 42001 | Held. | Not publicly stated. |
| Per-user fees | None. Unlimited users on every plan. | Not publicly stated. |
Four rows, not the whole picture. The complete eleven-row table, including certifications, overage terms, Q&A workflow and deployment time, sits on the Linkro vs Ansarada comparison page linked below. What an exit actually costs you.
The licence fee for the new room is rarely the expensive part of a change. The contract you are already inside usually is. Read your current agreement for the term end date, the notice period, and whether the term auto-renews if that notice is missed. On annual contracts the common outcome is paying twice for a few months, and that is a schedule problem rather than a budget problem, so find out early.
Then find out what happens to the room when the contract stops. Ask in writing how long the room stays accessible after termination, what export formats are available, and whether the audit trail exports with the documents or only the file tree. The audit trail is the record of who saw what and when, it is the evidence behind your disclosure position, and it is the one thing you cannot rebuild later. Export it before the old room closes, not after.
And do not move mid-deal. Once counterparties are inside a room, changing platforms costs you re-invitations, re-permissioning, a broken Q&A thread and a split audit record across two systems, at the exact point in a process where nobody has attention to spare. Finish in Ansarada, then prepare the next room properly while there is no deadline attached to it.
What moving actually involves.
- 1Build in parallel, before you cancel anythingPreparation in Linkro is free with 10 GB while the room stays private, so the new room can be built while the old one is still running. Nothing is metered until you invite someone outside your team, which means there is no window where you are paying for both in order to test one.
- 2Rebuild the structure first, not the filesDo not mirror a folder tree that already annoyed you. Top-level folders by discipline, three levels deep at most, file names that tell a reviewer what a document is without opening it. Most rooms that carried over badly carried over their structure.
- 3Move documents in disciplined batchesCorporate and constitutional documents first, then financials, then contracts, then people and property. Batching by discipline means one owner can check completeness for their own section rather than one person checking everything.
- 4Export the old audit trail and archive itPull the access log, the Q&A history and the document index out of the old room and store them with your deal file. Do this while your login still works. Access to a closed room is a favour, not a right.
- 5Reset permissions from scratchDo not replicate the old permission set from memory. List the parties, decide what each one sees, and set it once in the new room. Stale access carried across from a previous process is the most common disclosure error we see.
When you should stay where you are.
Changing provider is not free of effort. Three cases where it is not worth it.
Questions, answered.
- What does it cost to leave Ansarada?
- Usually the remainder of your current term rather than an exit fee. Check the term end date, the notice period and whether the agreement auto-renews, because missed notice is the expensive part. Preparation in Linkro is free with 10 GB while the room stays private, so building the replacement does not add cost while you serve out the old contract.
- Can I run both data rooms at the same time?
- Yes, and for a switch outside a live process that is the sensible way to do it. Build and check the new room while the old one still holds the live copy, then move counterparties across in one cutover once the new room is complete. Never run two rooms with external parties inside both, because the disclosure record then lives in two places.
- What happens to my audit trail when I move?
- It does not travel with the documents. The access log and Q&A history belong to the old platform, so export them before the contract ends and archive them with your deal file. Linkro starts a fresh audit trail from your first upload, and the two records sit side by side as the history of the process.
- How long does a migration take in practice?
- For a room of a few gigabytes, a day of upload and a week of checking. The upload is fast; the time goes into structure, naming and permissions. Rooms migrated in an afternoon are the ones that carry across every problem they had before.
